Our client is a well-known private equity.


About the role

The incumbent will have to manage between internal and some portfolio company related functions. The success is usually dependent on its smooth functioning. To ensure the smooth work flow, the associate director works closely with finance director and performs the following key responsibilities:


Your responsibilities

Financial Controller

  • Monthly closing.

  • Maintaining financial control.

  • Monitoring cash flow.

  • Spearhead the finance departments’ operations & strategies.

  • Mentor, motivate and lead direct reports.

  • Continuous improvements (recommendations to improve SOP / Monthly processes).

Fund Controller

  • Prepare quarterly investment performance report & fund reporting.

  • Advise investment team on reasonableness of quarterly valuation.

  • Calculate and monitor fund IRR.

For External, i.e. Portfolio Monitoring & Management

  • Onboarding of new portfolio companies to the necessary reporting processes and standards.

  • Projects as identified for each portfolio e.g. transfer pricing, supporting the corporate restructuring process, reviewing & streamlining processes, putting in place necessary control measures, reviewing tax or cost accounting practices, etc.

In addition to these responsibilities, he also handles the following duties which are as under:

  • To implement operational procedures to ensure that the payments are made and received in a timely manner.

  • To work closely with the director, analyze and resolve the financial issues.

  • To supervise a team of professional accountants and participate in the meetings related to financial discussion.

  • To train, instruct and provide directions to the new members.

Essential Skills of an Associate Director

  • Excellent leadership skills to be able to lead a team of professionals and direct them appropriately to follow the guidelines given.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Should be able to maintain and generate different accounting and financial records.

  • Should have multitasking ability and have the ability to meet the targeted deadlines.

  • Should be proficient in using computers and should exhibit excellent time management and organization skills.

  • An eye for detail is a must to verify and examine various financial reports and documents.


You will have

  • Should have at least a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business administration. A master's degree or a CPA is preferred but not necessary if an individual has substantial professional accounting or finance experience.

  • Should possess in-depth knowledge of auditing, accounting and different budgeting practices and principles.

  • Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English.

  • At least 15 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
