Our Client is a Singapore headquartered company with a strong eCommerce presence that is currently having tremendous growth in the United States.

About the role

This is a newly created position and the Tax Specialist (Group Tax) will be a high impact role to the finance team. This position will be mainly focused on ensuring the Group complies with United State’s tax regulations, and will be responsible for the development of the company’s approach to all corporate taxation matters, you will work closely with the senior leadership team, auditors & tax authorities.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to become a strong subject-matter expert in all things related to tax and provide you the opportunity to take up an international portfolio.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure the Group complies with all cross-border and local tax regulations in the United States, including and not limited to corporate tax, federal tax, state tax, withholding tax, sales tax and transfer pricing.

  • Work with tax agents to ensure the timely and accurate preparation and submission of all tax returns. Knowledge and experience on US tax is a must.

  • Maintain organized and accurate tax records, documentation, and supporting materials in compliance with record-keeping requirements.

  • Proactively identify tax-saving opportunities and risks. Recommend and execute strategies to minimize tax liabilities while remaining in compliance with tax laws.

  • Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organization. Provide guidance and recommendations based on tax research and analysis.

  • Manage and oversee tax audits, requests and queries by tax authorities. Coordinate responses to inquiries and provide documentation as needed.

  • Build and maintain relationships with external tax agents, auditors, and government agencies as necessary.

You will have

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, with 5+ years’ of relevant tax experience, ideally with “Big 4” tax advisory and commercial US tax experience.

  • Advisory and compliance experience across Direct tax, Indirect tax, International Tax and Transfer Pricing experience.

  • Extensive experience in tax management, preferably in a global setting.

  • Strong knowledge of local and cross-border tax laws and regulations in relevant jurisdictions.

  • Knowledge and experience of US tax is a must.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written; hands-on and strong team player.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

  • Retail / Ecommerce / B2C commercial experience in a private firm is a strong plus.
