About the role

The Sales & Use Tax (SUT) Accountant will assist with sales and use tax compliance for all US entities including Puerto Rico and Canada, and provide audit support as required.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Research product taxability by jurisdiction and summarize findings.

  • Customer service interface for all sales tax-exempt certificate needs and appropriate actions and support Collection/Customer Service resolving tax disputes. Specifically – SUT Front and back end Operations.

  • System

    • Maintain multiple spreadsheets required for documentation; upload information into the sales & use tax software (Vertex).

    • (sub bullet) – Review all Vertex coding to ensure correct sales and use tax rates are applied to all state and local tax jurisdictions.

    • (sub bullet) – Lead the upgrade for Vertex for year 2018.

  • Reconcile all Sales and Used tax account including Pre-paid tax prepayments monthly.

  • Support Team Lead to ensure all tax rate changes are implemented and all tax audits are addressed timely. 

  • Be a focal point for operations for advice on all Indirect Taxes for the US, Canada & Puerto Rico.

  • Resolves or escalate any queries or issues received.

  • Support Timely Property tax filings.

  • Support Escheatment process management.

  • Danaher Current account reconciliations.

  • Interco and Intraco recharges.

  • Accrual pertaining to specialty services.

  • M&A activities related to sales and used tax.

  • Yearly 1099 issuance coordination.

  • Other projects as assigned.

 

You will have

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting / Finance or equivalent) with at least 3-5 years of indirect tax experience. Experienced in North America SUT will be an added advantage.

  • Proficient in SAP system or related ERP System.

  • Good written and fluent spoken English.

  • Demonstrate customer focus with the ability to build effective working relationship with stakeholders.

  • A proven ability to work as part of multi-disciplinary teams and to build and maintain network within and outside Indirect Tax. 

  • Possess positive thinking and attitude, professionalism, takes ownership of and accountability of the work product. 

  • Support and implement process improvements and problem solving.
