About the role

Managing credit risk portfolio of Malaysia businesses in the designated locations by:

  • Ensuring compliance to Enterprise Credit Policy and local (BU) Credit Policy for the businesses with distinctively different markets and customers.

  • Credit decision making and balancing credit compliance and business needs.

  • Business partnering with the location in resolving credit issues (overdue, bad-debt, assets recovery, credit limit gap analysis) within its portfolio.

  • Reporting and monitoring for Malaysia the performance of its portfolio against the agreed targets, social economic development in the location as well as issues within agriculture market.

  • Work with shared services Finance Team for credit related works to ensure timely and accurate data and achieve customer focus.

  • Credit is a key contributor in the overall success of Malaysia businesses. This role will require excellent business partnering and persuasion skills in order to manage risks and business objectives.


Your responsibilities

Credit decision making and management (40%)

  • Perform independent credit assessment on limit request.

  • Approve credit exposure request within the delegated approval authority.

  • Initiate for credit risk mitigation solutions.

  • Ensure proper documentation in place as required by the policy and or credit approval.

  • Perform customer visit to develop understanding of the market and business requirement and demonstrate such understanding in his/her credit decision.

  • Design and monitor credit key performance indicators; work with business leaders for root causes analysis of performance.

Oversee Reporting & monitoring, manage AR quality against agreed target (20%)

  • Work closely with CBS Finance Team to ensure reporting is done on time and completely.  

  • Ensure sufficient early warnings signs are given to the business when payment behaviors of customers is out of line.

  • Provide in-depth analysis on AR Quality and determine action plan to improve the quality against target.

  • Set up and maintain strong AR oversight and proper handling of bad debts.

  • Ensure compliance with insurance policy for location where applicable;

  • Actively drive pro-active sharing of information by the Credit team with all key stakeholders.

Credit Policy and Location Credit Policy (15%)

  • Ensure compliance to the policies in the day to day activities.

  • Help to identify any elements of non-compliancy to the policies.

  • Actively driving improvement of local processes or defining follow-up action plan to address such non-compliancy.

  • Develop others in gaining understanding of the credit policies and processes – formal or informal basis.

  • Review Credit policy and procedures and ensure they are up to date and sufficiently tailored to the needs of the business.

  • Provide training and ensure relevant stakeholders understand policy and procedures and execute accordingly.

Credit Collection (10%)

  • Owner of collection strategy and ensure relevant stakeholders are handled collection activities properly.

  • Review and approve hold and release at delegated authority or escalate to approvers as defined under local credit annex;

  • Work with legal for litigation process for bad debt cases.

Credit Solutions (10%)

  • Exploring availability of financing solutions in the market.

  • Actively provide analysis to the business for potential solutions for customers.


You will have

  • University degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Professional qualification in Finance / Accounting (CA / CPA / CMA / ACCA etc..) would be an added advantage.

  • At least 6 years of total experience of which 2 years must have been in Credit lead role.

  • Strong accounting experience with technical knowledge in Counterparty risk management.

  • Strong IT skills, especially in MS Excel, Power BI and ERP systems like JDE and SAP.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Keen eye for details and clarity of thought.

  • Ability to multi-task and deliver under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to interact easily with others and be a team player.

  • Ability to work in an unstructured, fast-changing and dynamic environment.

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time into location’s sites and key customers.
