Our client is one of the world’s leading insurance firms.

 

About the role

You will define, scope, initiate and manage IT projects ensuring their successful and timely delivery. Responsible for the timely resolution of escalated issues and risks, directing the work and resource planning. 

You will supervise teams of project management resources/ teams assigned to the project. Sets direction and goals for the project and is accountable for the final outcome of the project.

This role will also establish and facilitate project governance and compliance through established standards.

 

Your responsibilities

Project Management

  • Provide clear definition of project in terms of scope, work schedule, stakeholders, risks, resources, communication plan, and benefit measures.

  • Develop project plan based on business case (if any) or agreed scope for approval by Project Sponsor / Project Steering Committee (PSC).

  • Develop work breakdown structure (WBS) for resource allocation and identify dependencies.

  • Define and communicate roles and responsibilities of project team (including vendor) to ensure alignment in terms of expectation and accountabilities.

  • Create and maintain work schedules, define milestones and critical path for timely completion.

  • Understands the scope and requirements of the project and ensures development activities are compliant to customer processes and BNM regulations.

  • Understands technical issues and escalate issues as needed and drive them to resolution.

  • Articulate project challenges or roadblock and communicate impact to the Project Sponsor / PSC.

  • Manage change using appropriate verification techniques to assess impact, evaluate options, estimate cost, and present justification for approval by Project Sponsor / PSC.

  • Create and maintain project documentation based on company’s Project Governance standards.

  • Identify and escalate project interdependencies and propose mitigation for associated risks. 

  • Initiate and oversee the implementation of benefit tracking prior to project completion.

  • Perform project closure with proper handover and acceptance by the stakeholders, and submit files for PMO project repository.

  • Perform post implementation review and share lessons learned.

 

Change and Risk Management

  • Chair project status meeting to drive outcomes, or lead problem solving meetings to reach conclusions and agreement on resolutions.

  • Perform risk management to mitigate all identified risks. 

  • Oversee project communication and clarify communication gap by delivering message / guidance / directions timely, driving decisions, and updating stakeholders.

  • Manage expectation of Project Sponsor throughout the project lifecycle, which includes to obtain buy-in from Key Stakeholders / Senior Management.

 

Project Governance

  • Establish project governance and ensure desired outcomes and original intent is met.

  • Formalize project organization structure, roles and responsibilities, person-in-charge, and key deliverables.

 

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of local regulations and all other relevant statutory regulations and guidelines, as well as all relevant Company, Regional and company policies and procedures.

 

Information System Security

  • Observe and comply with company’s information security policy on information management and confidentiality. 

  • Perform risk analysis to determine risk and potential business impacts.

  • Liaise and coordinate with Information System Security Manager on all Information System security activities.

  • Ensure compliance on Information System Security standards and IS Security guidelines are adhered to.

 

You will have

  • Candidate should possess at least a Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.

  • Preferred with Insurance Background.

  • 5-10 years’ experience in managing IT application projects with project team size of 5 -10+ employees including vendors.

  • Significant knowledge in insurance business across product, sales/ customer support, distribution, operation and finance reporting.

  • Strong change management skills and experience, with a proven track record of developing, implementing and maintaining business systems.

  • Ability to lead a team of IT professionals and business analysts in different project development phases in both technical and business perspectives.

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication and presentation skills.

  • Excellent inter-personal and negotiation skills.
