About our client

Our client is a leading boutique strategy energy consulting organization that enables their customers to take advantage of energy transition and sustainability opportunities.

 

About the role

They are looking for a motivated senior professional with financial transactional / structuring expertise to join their Asian operations and help us build a platform serving global and regional banks and funds.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about energy transition and energy transition finance, precise and rigorous, while also demonstrating strong leadership and excellent written & verbal communication skills.

 

Your responsibilities

As a Manager / Director you will work as a team leader overseeing the delivery of projects with a team of consultants and analysts. Depending on the projects, you will work under the supervision or with the support of a Director / Partner. In this setting, you will be onboard quickly, work with different team members, and be exposed to the diversity of current energy challenges.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project management and delivery.

    • Lead complex projects, ensuring quality of project delivery and assistance to clients as needed and providing final recommendations.

    • Supervise the project team of consultants and analysts, ensuring their up skilling, coaching and development.

    • Manage relationship with both the client and other external stakeholders throughout the project.

    • Ensure project KPI’s are met (quality, timeline and cost) while maximising client satisfaction.

  • Business development

    • Manage client relationships to understand their needs, identify opportunities for value creation, as well as promote our client’s expertise and competencies in strategic consulting in its area of specialisation.

    • Supervise commercial proposals. This will include proposing and drafting relevant methodologies.

    • Pro-actively seek and help secure new business through ongoing client relationships and through building and maintaining professional networks.

    • Achieve internal KPI’s for business development, revenue delivery and client satisfaction.

  • Internal development/corporate

    • Develop corporate strategy, plans, organisation and/or process design and ensure effective implementation, such as in communications, skill development, knowledge sharing and training.

    • Collaborate with the consulting team to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality work in alignment with our client’s values.

    • Develop further knowledge/thought leadership and know-how that enhance our client’s competitive advantage and professional reputation.

 

You will have

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a relevant bank, consulting, or M&A role.

  • Proven project management, analytical and interpersonal skills.

    • Consulting skills: ability to understand client needs, reframe their problems and propose an approach to solving them.

    • Technical skills: outstanding analytical skills and financial analysis skills.

    • Functional skills: excellent verbal and written communication, systematic critical thinking and rigor, outstanding analysis and synthesis capabilities, strong work ethics, curiosity, open mindedness, empathy and team spirit.

    • Project management skills: proactive, autonomous and flexible attitude, organizational and time management skills, proven experience of stakeholder engagement and management, both external (clients, experts, partners) and internal (analysts and consultants).

    • Commercial skills: Strong influencing and leadership skills reflected by the ability to work effectively with a variety of clients while building strong relationships, demonstrated ability to sell at C-suite level and positively impact revenue growth and strong commercial acumen.

  • Professional network and track-record with Financial Institutions in the region.

  • Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory.

  • Bachelor and/or master’s degree (preferred) from a top university, preferably but not limited to energy engineering / engineering / finance / management or other quantitative fields.

  • Willingness to travel abroad for work assignments.

  • Working rights in Hong Kong.

  • Proficiency in Mandarin and/or other Asian languages.

  • Previous experience in investment banking, infrastructure investment or Private Equity.

  • Previous successful experiences of upskilling and supervising junior staff career paths.
